Patching and resurfacing on westbound Interstate 70 begins April 28

EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that patching and resurfacing on westbound Interstate 70 from the Effingham/Cumberland County line to about 2 miles east into Cumberland County begins Monday, April 28.

Lane closures will be necessary for the completion of this project. Orange barrels, message boards and arrow boards will be used for traffic control. Benefits from this project include a smoother driving surface. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the traffic control devices and should allow for extra travel time. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
