Rail crossing at Illinois 84 in Fulton to close April 7

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that Illinois 84 in Fulton will be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad beginning Monday, April 7. The crossing is located south of U.S. 30.

The closure will allow the railroad to repair the crossing. Traffic should follow the posted detour during the project, which is anticipated to last for approximately a week.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
