Ramp changes scheduled for I-57/74 interchange

I-74 eastbound to I-57 southbound ramp reopening July 3,
I-74 eastbound to I-57 northbound ramp closing July 8

CHAMPAIGN – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the ramp carrying traffic from Interstate 74 eastbound to Interstate 57 southbound will reopen to traffic on July 3, and the ramp carrying I-74 eastbound to I-57 northbound will close July 8.

Improvements connecting the I-74 eastbound ramp to new pavement is complete, allowing the ramp to reopen the afternoon of July 3. The ramp will remain open until the permanent ramp opens by the end of the year.

The July 8 I-74 eastbound to I-57 northbound ramp closure will be long-term. Motorists traveling northbound will be detoured to exit at the I-57 southbound ramp, continue south to Curtis Road and take the Curtis Road exit. Motorists will then turn left on Curtis before taking I-57 northbound.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
