Repairs at the Illinois 1 railroad crossing east of Robinson begins April 21

EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs at the railroad crossing at Illinois 1 (Gordon Junction) just east of Robinson is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, April 21.

The repairs are necessary to allow Indiana Railroad to repair the crossing due to water issues. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers helping with traffic control. Work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, April 24.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
