Richland Street in East Peoria to close June 5

EAST PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Richland Street between Sanford Street and Monson Street, under the Cedar Street Bridge (Illinois 8/116) in East Peoria, will close June 5.

The closure is necessary for painting the bridge and is expected to last until early July. Traffic on the bridge will not be affected, and access to nearby Caterpillar buildings will be maintained.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
