Southbound Larkin Avenue ramp to eastbound I-80 reopens Sept. 19
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild Interstate 80 from Ridge Road in Minooka to U.S. 30 in Joliet and New Lenox, the reconstructed ramp from southbound Larkin Avenue (Illinois 7) to eastbound I-80 is scheduled to reopen, weather permitting, Friday, Sept. 19.
Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 18, lane closures will take place on eastbound I-80 between Houbolt Road and Larkin Avenue. At least one eastbound lane will remain open to traffic. The lanes that were closed overnight and the new Larkin Avenue ramp will open by 5 a.m. tomorrow.
As the I-80 reconstruction continues, the public should continue to expect lane shifts, overnight lane closures and significant delays and to allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
