Stiritz Road closure for bridge replacement begins Sept. 29
JOHNSTON CITY – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that work to replace the bridge carrying Stiritz Road over Interstate 57 near Johnston City in Williamson County will begin, weather permitting, Monday, Sept. 29.
To complete the work, Stiritz Road will be closed from Dublin Road to Illinois 37. Access for local traffic on Stiritz Road between these limits will be maintained at all times.
The closure is expected to remain in effect until Sept. 1, 2026.
Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,200 miles of highway and nearly 9 million square feet of bridge deck as part of Rebuild Illinois, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Six of Rebuild Illinois include almost $20.8 billion of improvements statewide on 7,897 miles of highway, 815 bridges and 1,181 additional safety improvements.
