Temporary closure of Old Illinois 13 near Illinois 148 begins Aug. 4

WILLIAMSON COUNTY – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that a short segment of Old Illinois 13 just east of the Illinois 148 intersection will be closed to all traffic starting at 12 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4.

The closure, which is expected to remain in place through Monday, Sept. 8, is necessary to construct the east half of a new roundabout at the intersection. Illinois 148 and Old Illinois 13 to the west will remain open, with traffic controlled by temporary signals. Access to residences within the closure area will be maintained.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
