Temporary lane closures on the Kennedy Sunday

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a routine bridge inspection of the Jefferson Park Tunnel, Milwaukee and Cicero avenues, along with several adjacent railroad bridges, over the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94), in Chicago, will require temporary lane closures on the Kennedy, from the Edens Expressway (Interstate 94) junction to Central Avenue, weather permitting, from 6:30 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Dec. 21.

To complete the inspections, lane closures will take place on both sides of the Kennedy using a moving operation alternating in both directions. At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times and the ramps will not be impacted.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
