Traffic signal improvements to close Poplar Street at U.S. 45 in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that Poplar Street in Saline County will be closed at the intersection with U.S. 45 beginning Monday, April 6, weather permitting.

Access to businesses on Poplar Street will be maintained throughout the closure. U.S. 45 will remain open; however, motorists should expect flaggers and intermittent lane closures.

The closure is necessary to complete traffic signal improvements at the intersection of Poplar Street and U.S. 45 and is expected to last approximately two weeks.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
