Traffic signal work in East Peoria set May 19

EAST PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that intermittent lane closures on Main Street (Illinois 116) at the eastbound Interstate 74 ramps in East Peoria will take place in the early morning hours of May 19.

The closures are necessary to replace a traffic signal mast arm at the intersection and will begin at 3 a.m. Traffic will be controlled by flashing red lights in all directions during the work, which is expected to wrap up by 10 a.m.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
