U.S. 24 bridge work near Eureka begins July 8

EUREKA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs to the U.S. 24 bridge over the TP&W railroad, about 3 miles west of Eureka in Woodford County, begin July 8.

The project involves replacing expansion joints, installing a new wearing surface and other items. Work will reduce the bridge to one lane, with traffic controlled by temporary signals, through the end of October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
