Virtual public meeting for Illinois 75 Rock River bridge in Rockton Jan. 28

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a virtual public meeting at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, to present information and seek input on the replacement of the Illinois 75 (Blackhawk Boulevard) Rock River bridge in Rockton.

People can register for the meeting here. In addition to a presentation of exhibits and maps, the meeting will include the opportunities to ask questions.

During the meeting, the project team will present a project overview, discuss improvements, and receive public feedback. The meeting will conclude with a question-and-answer session with IDOT representatives and the project team.

The project will replace the existing bridge, which is reaching the end of its service life. The new bridge will be wider to accommodate two lanes of traffic with shoulders, a sidewalk and a multiuse path that will connect to Settler’s Park and a connection to the Great River Trail. An overlook, a mainstay of the current bridge, will also be included in the construction of the new bridge.

A project website, www.IL75RockRiverBridge.com, will be live on the day of the meeting. Meeting materials and a recording of the meeting will be posted to the website on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Comments received from the day of the meeting until Tuesday, Feb. 11 will be included in the public meeting record.

Comments may also be mailed to:
