Work on U.S. 6 and Osco/Green River Road in Henry County begins July 21

Intersection to close for 60 days during project

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, construction on the intersection of U.S. 6 and Osco/Green River Road will begin Monday, July 21. The project will require the intersection, located nearly a mile east of Interstate 80, to close for 60 days.

Work will reconstruct the current intersection, which contains ramps to Osco Road and Green River Road, into a modern four-way intersection. The project also will replace a culvert on U.S. 6 just west of the intersection.

Posted detours for U.S. 6. Green River Road and Osco Road will be as follows:

  • U.S. 6: Illinois 82 and I-80.
  • Green River Road (southbound detour): Cleveland Road, I-80 east, I-74 east, Illinois 81
  • Green River Road (northbound detour) and Osco Road: Illinois 81, I-74 west, I-80 west, U.S. 6, Illinois 84, Cleveland Road

The $2.7 million project is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zone areas, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
