Resurfacing of Old U.S. 50 east of Lawrenceville underway
EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the resurfacing of Old U.S. 50 east of Lawrenceville from Business U.S. 50 to Illinois 33 is underway. The $3.6 million dollar project is estimated to be completed by the end of June.
Additional work includes shoulder maintenance. Lane closures are expected. Signs and flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zones.
Motorists can expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the area if possible.
