COLONA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, Illinois 84 at the BNSF Railway crossing in Colona will be closed for repairs on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The crossing is between Poppy Garden Road and U.S. 6.

Work will remove and replace a rail at the at-grade crossing. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of Thursday, Oct. 22. Traffic will follow a posted detour of Poppy Garden Road, Green River Road and U.S. 6.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic.
